What I like about my life in Santa Cruz right now.

This is what I like about my life in Santa Cruz right now, in no particular order.

1) Feeling as if I have access to a group of supportive, non-judgmental, pretty grown-up girls. This is something I have never really had. Girls, up to this point in my life, have been really catty and conniving. They would shit talk and write mean notes and tell boys you liked how gross you were and make you feel bad about yourself. There of course are very large exceptions to this, Clare and Angie to name a few obvious ones. But Ive never felt like Ive had as many and all together as now. Allie, Joc, Cooterz, Anna, and Tori are such good ladies, and we can talk and be goofy and I dont feel threatened or sad or subtly put down. We can also talk about tough stuff like eating disorders and daddy issues and it feels nice. I am usually not at all the type to separate my friends by gender, that is, to say I have these girl friends, and then these guy friends, and thats not what I mean to do here either. Its just that Ive honestly never felt this comfortable around girls as I do with these ladies, and its kind of a huge relief.

2) Knowing some fun, kind, non-douchey guys. Though I have had the great fortune of knowing a few of these before, it is so nice to meet some here and have some cool boys around again. Eddie and T.J. are super funny and approachable, and Eddie made me feel SOO much better the other day just by being there and making me a sandwich and Im pretty sure he has no idea. Ken, Christopher, and Arthur all deserve a solid salute in this category as well.

3) Being a part of what I see as a really nice, happy group of people where I dont feel judged. When we all hang out, it is always a blast, and always positive. This is something I was so afraid I would not find at college, and Im so so so glad I did.
